About the Expensify Outage Map

This live outage map shows where users are reporting problems with Expensify right now. Every marker represents reports submitted by real users over the last 24 hours, grouped by area. The bigger the number, the more people in that region are experiencing issues — such as connection problems, login errors, or the service being down entirely.

Marker colors indicate how many reports are coming from an area: blue means a few isolated reports, orange means a noticeable group of reports, and red means many users in that region are having problems. Zoom and drag the map to explore specific countries and cities.

Keep in mind that a cluster of reports in one region can mean a local outage — for example an ISP or regional server issue — even when the service works fine elsewhere. If the map is empty, no user reports with location data have been submitted in the last 24 hours, which usually means everything is running normally.

Wondering if Expensify is down right now? The map is one part of the picture: the status page combines live user reports, a 24-hour activity chart, outage history and the most common problems people report — like server connection errors, app crashes or login issues — to give you a real-time answer.

Common Expensify Problems Shown on the Map

When Expensify has an outage, the map fills up within minutes as users report what is going wrong. The problems people most often report include:

  • Server connection issues — the service won't connect, times out or shows a network error even though your internet works.
  • Login problems — you can't sign in, get stuck on the login screen or your session keeps expiring.
  • App or website not loading — the app crashes on startup, freezes or the website shows an error page.
  • Slow performance — everything works but is noticeably laggy, with long loading times or constant buffering.
  • Feature-specific failures — one part is broken, such as messages not sending or content not updating, while the rest works.

What to Do When Expensify Is Down

First, use the outage map above to see whether the problem is widespread or local to your area. If lots of markers appear near you or worldwide, the outage is on the service's side — there is nothing to fix on your device, and the best move is to wait it out and check back for updates. If the map is quiet, the issue is more likely on your end: restart the app or your router, try a different network or device, and clear your cache.

Either way, take a second to report the problem on the status page — every report makes the outage map more accurate and helps other users figure out whether it's down for everyone or just for them.

Expensify Outage Map FAQ

Is Expensify down in my area?

+

Zoom into your region on the outage map above. If you see markers near your city, other users around you are reporting problems too — which points to a real outage rather than a problem with your own device or connection. If your area is clear but the service still isn't working for you, try the troubleshooting steps on the status page or report the issue so others can see it.

How do I read the outage map?

+

Each circle groups user reports from one area, and the number shows how many reports came from there in the last 24 hours. Blue circles mean a few scattered reports, orange means a noticeable amount, and red means many users in that region are having problems. Click a circle to see the exact report count, and zoom in to break large clusters into smaller areas.

How often is the Expensify outage map updated?

+

The map is generated live from user reports every time you load the page, and it always covers the most recent 24 hours. When users report a problem, their report appears on the map right away — so during a major outage you can watch affected regions grow in real time by refreshing the page.

Why does the map show reports when Expensify works for me?

+

Outages are often partial: a service can be down in one country or on one internet provider while working normally everywhere else. Problems can also affect only certain features — for example logins or messaging — that you may not be using at the moment. A few isolated blue markers are normal background noise; a growing red cluster is a much stronger signal of a real outage.

Where does the location data come from?

+

When someone reports a problem, we estimate their approximate location from their IP address at city level. No account, GPS access or personal information is required, and reports are shown only as anonymous grouped totals per area — never as individual users.
